More than 100 acres of land in the City of Deer Park are dedicated to public parks and recreational areas. From family-friendly playground and picnic areas to walking and jogging tracks for health enthusiasts, park lands can be found in every sector of our community. Amenities include barbecue grills, picnic tables, playground equipment, basketball courts, volleyball courts, rest rooms, and water fountains. The largest park in Deer Park is the city's Dow Park. This 40-acre crown jewel of the parks system features a mile-long walking/jogging trail, skate park, playground, picnic area, swimming pools, a gazebo, covered pavilion, soccer and baseball/softball/volleyball fields, and a rose garden. Landscaped with stately shade trees and bridges, Dow Park is located at 610 East San Augustine between the Deer Park Community Center and City Hall.

From the bright lights of Broadway to the spotlight on stage, Deer Park's Art Park Players are known throughout the state for their performances. Offering live family-friendly theater in a dinner-show format, APP is one of the most active and acclaimed community theaters around. Their shows constantly sell out their home at 1302 Center Street in the Municipal Court/Theater Building. In addition to touring in other Texas towns, APP provides valuable training and theater experience for young people through its Junior Art Park Players and Youth Theatre School.

Deer Park also boasts The Slightly Off-Center Players, a nationally-renowned performance troupe. Performing classics and modern pieces from widely-recognized playwrights, The Slightly Off-Center Players have proven there is room for two quality and active theater organizations in the city. Comedies, musicals and drama productions are all performed with a sense of pride as well as the company's own twist on the stories. The Slightly Off-Center Players are located at 4201 Center Street, slightly off of Center Street, behind Hellyer's Transmission.
